Left of the Lake

There are so many fantastic things happening in the area that it is becoming difficult to keep up! Our artistic community is slowly turning away from its fragmented past and is evolving into (dare I say it) a movement of sorts.

This "movement" has been fueled in part by the dynamic relationship that now exists between Racine, and Kenosha. This artistic merger, is a testament to the collaborative spirit, with artists sharing their knowledge and resources with each…

Racine and Vicinity Show.

Posted on June 12, 2011 at 1:01pm 2 Comments

The latest Racine and Vicinity art show is the most important exhibition of area artists in recent memory.  While it is impossible to get ALL the horses in the same barn at the same time, this particular exhibit is as comprehensive as one could hope to assemble.  The exact reason that "everyone" entered this show is unclear, and ultimately unimportant.  Due to the "drawing a line in the sand" type of statement  that this show makes, it raises two very important questions.  The first question…

Nosferatu

Posted on October 17, 2010 at 1:05pm 0 Comments

Nosferatu was a big deal. Something very special happened on Saturday night. The fortunate folks in attendance were able to witness Kenosha's (and Racine's) entry into regional artistic relevance. The ambition of this event is almost unprecedented. Thoroughly inclusive, high quality artistic productions like Nosferatu simply don't happen very often, anywhere.

The beauty of Nosferatu was that the performers were not creatively bound to the film, instead, the additional…

Dear Chet,

I wanted to ask if you'd like to advertise the new workshop that will be happening every Friday and Third Friday of the month there will be a workshop at the Black-Eyed press for Artist Trading Cards?

Oh gosh, wow, hi! XD Oh, you know... just the usual projects for class that I should get around to scanning in sometime. :-) But I'm mostly more into the digital scene so the zillions of illustration boards were destroyed trying to make something look semi decent!!

Merry Christmas, by the way!

I'm glad I was able to meet you at the Art Show. It was a good time and Kishori and I both had fun.

She tells me there are a couple other events/content like things going on like the card drawing she is doing right now. I would love to get involved with those as well if you have the room. Also are there any photography events around here that you know of?

Hey, I am so glad we got to see each other last night and I was able to learn a little about what is going on with Southport Press. And I'm back on here which is awesome!! Please feel free to pass along my editing information to your writer, I'd be glad to discuss what terms work for her. Take care and I'll hopefully at least see you again at the August meeting.

Very happy to hear that the opening went well. I'll be coming down to see the show as soon as is artistically possible. And, I have heard great things about it from others who have visited.

I agree that there's so much talent in our community, and love learning more and more about it. Thanks for the opportunity to participate in it more completely.

Also, best of luck with the opening on Saturday evening!

Chet, this is great site that you've set up!!! I couldn't be more impressed. I would like to add my web address as you did...how did you do that? I would also like to title my paintings, as you did. Once again, how do I do that? It was fun to see your "Eve" painting. Your drawings, like "untitled" are impressive. J.Belland P.S. And what is a "gift"

Hi, Chet,
Thank you for Thursday night. There were many very positive comments. I overheard you telling someone about this site, but didn't get the particulars, so I mentioned it to our Art Guild online guru Tammy Easton. She sent your info on to me. I'm eager to explore and connect. It looks like a great place to be.
Thanks for everything,
Kate Proeber
